Services are available to full-time students and their dependents free of charge in Counseling Services. Types of services available:

Tutor Network

Volunteer tutor network
Counseling Services coordinates a service network of volunteers who can tutor in a variety of subjects. To request a tutor or volunteer to be a tutor e-mail Eileen Booth.

Hale Tutoring
Counseling Services coordinates a tutor program in the Hales Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday nights from 9:00-11:00 p.m. covering a variety of subjects. For fall 2001 the subjects are Accounting, Business Management, Economics, Math, Biology and Statistics. Look for fliers in the Hales to find the specific locations or contact Eileen Booth (293-3737).

TVA Outreach

TVA Outreach provides a convenient, non-threatening place for parents and families to go for informal counseling, consultation and support as young parents.

Special Needs

Students with special needs are welcome at BYU-Hawaii. Some of the services we have available are:
  • For the physically handicapped/challenged we have a dedicated computer with audio input that writes the words as they are pronounced.
  • We have some limited technological equipment to assist the deaf.
  • We work with teachers for accommodation in lecture and testing.
  • If we have sufficient notice we can assist with books on tape.
  • We have a counselor whose responsibility is to assist students with special needs

Testing

Counseling can provide testing for learning disabilites, and a variety of other problems.

Workshops

Counseling offers workshops to teachers or others who are interested in the university community. For more information, contact Eileen Booth.

Speakers are available for interested groups or wards. To arrange for a speaker contact Eileen Booth. Topics include:
