Deadlines and Application Procedures

What are the deadlines for applying for scholarships?
The primary deadline is March 31st. Some awards have a secondary deadline of September 30th.. Most deadlines are listed on the Deadline page as well as on each individual scholarship page.

How do I apply for a scholarship at BYU-Hawaii?
Institutional Awards - Some institutional awards require application forms to be completed and submitted by a specific deadline. Others do not require an application form because all enrolled students who are eligible for the award are considered. Refer to each individual award for more details.

Private Scholarships - Private scholarships are advertised through the scholarship website. Application instructions and forms are available online and at the Financial Aid Office (808-675-3530).

Department Awards - Application procedures for department awards vary significantly by department. Very few departments provide information for this website. At the very minimum, we have listed contact information for each department so that you may contact your academic department directly

How do I apply for a Book Loan or a Deferred Payment Plan? NEW!
Student's can apply for a Book Loan by logging into my.byuh.edu, clicking on the Student tab, and clicking on the link for Book Loan. Fill out the application and submit. You will receive an email notification when your application is accepted or rejected.
Student's can apply for a Deferred Payment Plan by going online to the Financial Aid and Student Accounts website, click on the Loans link and then Deferred Payment Plan. Fill out the questionnaire, print out the application, collect your supporting documents and bring them into the FASA office. You will receive an email notification if your application was accepted.

When will I know if I have received a scholarship/Federal Aid? NEW!
After the student has completed all the necesary paperwork their aid will be processed. Usually students can expect to receive an award letter and be able to view their anticipated aid on their account approximately six weeks prior to the beginning of the semester/term. Students can view their anticipated Financial Aid by logging in to their my.byuh.edu account clicking on the Student tab, then Student Center. Under the Financial Aid heading, click on the link called View Financial Aid, then click on the appropriate aid year (2009) and the student's anticipated aid will be listed.

When is tuition due? NEW!
Starting Fall 2008 the deadline for payments on tuition and all other outstanding fees is seven (7) days prior to the first day of class, which is August 20, 2008. Any Finanical Aid that is seen as anticipated on the students account (my.byuh.edu) will be considered payment if a Federal Authorization form is signed and on file at the Financial Aid and Student accounts (FASA) Office. Any balance in excess of anticipated aid must be paid by the new deadline. Failure to pay will result in the student not being able to add classes. The second and final deadline to pay your account balance is September 4, 2008. At this point if there are any outstanding charges in excess of anticipated aid on your account your classes will be DROPPED and WILL NOT be reinstated.

How do I apply for a Stafford Loan? NEW!
Fill out the FAFSA by going online to http://www.fafsa.ed.gov/ to complete the application for Federal Student Aid. In the application make sure you indicate that you are interested in receiving loans. If you have already filled out your FAFSA and did not mark that you were interested in loans, you must fill out a Loan Request Form.
