Brigham Young University-Hawaii International Work Experience Scholarship (IWES)
International students may qualify for BYU-H International Work Experience Scholarship (IWES) if they meet all of the following requirements:
- Member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints minimum of 12 months
- Show financial need
- Resident of the Pacific Islands or Asian Rim countries identified by BYU-H as an IWES country (F-1) and reside in home country at time of application

- Maintain full-time student status of 14 credits during Fall and Winter semesters and 6 credits for Spring term each year of enrollment,
- Willingness and ability to work at the Polynesian Cultural Center (PCC) as assigned, for 19 hours per week during fall and winter semesters and spring term and 38 hours per week during summer term,
- Committed to return to the home country after completion of degree.
BYU-H IWES students are supported through a combination of student employment, personal and family funds, scholarships and awards, and Grant-in-Aid funds. IWES sponsorship is limited to a maximum of 4 years, even if the student does not graduate or complete a degree. Please refer to the
IWES agreement for details.
IWES is normally NOT available to U.S. citizens. However, consideration for a limited time on IWES, not to exceed one year, could be given to U.S. citizens who have lived in their home countries (IWES countries) for most of their lives.
