Women Sweep UH-Hilo

Becky Lu (shown in earlier action) helped the Seasiders sweep UH-Hilo for the fourth time today

Laie, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team defeated UH-Hilo for the fourth time this season today, 6-0, to improve to 16-0 for the season. The Seasiders swept all six singles matches and the doubles matches were not played. The win was the 76th in a row in BYU–Hawaii’s latest winning streak.

Top-ranked Elwen Li took a 6-2, 6-1 win at the first singles slot while sixth-ranked Maggie Deng was winning 6-1, 6-0 at number two singles. Jenny Chin put up a matching score of 6-1, 6-0 at number three singles but Ayako Ikeda was forced to a super-tiebreaker at the fourth slot before prevailing 4-6, 6-0, 1-0(4). Ramona Husaru claimed a 6-1, 6-0 win at the fifth spot and Becky Lu finished out the sweep with a 6-1, 6-1 win at number six.

BYU–Hawaii will hit the road to face West Alabama next on March 31st in Mobile, Alabama.
