Women Sweep Again

Hilo, HI—The top-ranked Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s tennis team improved to 6-0 for the season today with a second straight 9-0 sweep of UH-Hilo on the road. The Seasiders won all three doubles matches handily and then breezed through the six singles matches in straight sets for their 66th straight win and 299th in their last 301 matches.

Top-ranked Elwen Li took a 6-1, 6-1 win at the first singles slot after teaming with partner Maggie Deng for an 8-2 win at number one doubles where the pair is also ranked first nationally. Deng claimed a 6-2, 6-2 win at number two singles. Becky Lu won 6-2, 6-0 at number three singles and scored an 8-3 win at the second doubles spot with teammate Ramona Husaru who whitewashed her way to a 6-0, 6-0 win at number six singles. Jenny Chin also blitzed her opponent 6-0, 6-0 at the fifth singles position and paired up with Ayako Ikeda for an 8-4 number three doubles win. Ikeda won 6-0, 6-3 at number four singles to round out the scoring for the Seasiders.

BYU–Hawaii will face Chaminade on March 6th in Laie at 2:00 pm HST.
