BYUH Defeats Grand Canyon

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s soccer team defeated Grand Canyon today, 2-0, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 12-6-1 overall and 9-2 in the conference, got goals from Natasha Aiono and Hailey McKee early in the match and the defense made them hold up as they dropped the Antelopes to 4-13-2 overall and 4-6-1 in the PacWest.

Aiono opened the scoring in the fifth minute as she scored with assists from Jill Haar and Ashley Hunter. McKee put the Seasiders up by two in the 18th minute following a throw-in from Alexa Page and a pass from Aiono. BYU–Hawaii goalie Becky Ploeger saved five Grand Canyon shots in posting the shutout. The Seasiders out-shot the Antelopes 15-6 for the game.

BYU Hawaii will face Notre Dame de Namur in Laie on Friday at 3:30 pm HST in the last match of the season.
