Two Seasiders Honored

Laie, HI—Two Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball players received post-season honors from the Pacific West Conference this week as Agnes Tuilevuka and Richelle Fenenbock were each selected for the All-Conference Second Team. The Seasiders finished in sixth place in the conference this year with a 5-13 conference mark.

Seasiders Lose Finale

Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball closed out their second season of existence with a 68-44 loss to UH-Hilo tonight in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders out-rebounded the Vulcans 50-41 but couldn’t overcome a cold shooting night that saw them hit 12-51 from the field (23.5 percent) and 2-21 (9.5 percent) from beyond the three-point line.

Seasiders Fall on the Road

Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball fell to UH-Hilo tonight, 84-54, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders fell behind 43-26 at the half and could not catch the hot-shooting Vulcans who hit over 50 percent of their shots on their home court.

Lolohea Gets PacWest Honor

Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii’s Lei Lolohea was honored as the Pacific West Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week this week for her play last week in two BYU–Hawaii conference games. Lolohea averaged 29.5 points per game as the Seasiders split the two games.

Seasiders Beat 'Swords

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball defeated Chaminade tonight, 78-72, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders overcame a seven-point first-half deficit to take a 38-31 halftime lead and, despite a tough battle from the Silverswords, never trailed in the second half as they defeated Chaminade for the third time this season.

Seasiders Lose Heartbreaker

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team forced overtime with a clutch three-pointer by freshman Richelle Fenenbock, but couldn’t sustain the momentum and lost to Dixie State tonight, 84-79, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders lost despite a record-setting performance by freshman Lei Lolohea, who scored 33 points to set a new BYU–Hawaii record for a women’s game.

Seasiders Lose to Grand Canyon

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team fell to Grand Canyon tonight, 84-45, in women’s basketball as the visiting Lady ‘Lopes clinched at least a tie for the Pacific West Conference championship. The Seasiders fell behind the defending champions early in the first half and were forced to play catch-up basketball the rest of the way.

Seasiders Fall to Conference Leader

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team fell to Grand Canyon, the top team in the Pacific West Conference, tonight by a score of 87-54 at the Cannon Activities Center. The Seasiders, who trailed 48-21 at halftime, played much tougher in the second half but could not overcome the deficit.

Seasiders Hang Tough

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team battled the number two team in the Pacific West Conference down to the wire tonight before falling just short, 68-61, to Notre Dame de Namur at the Cannon Activities Center. The Seasiders, who trailed 34-28 at halftime, closed the gap to just one point, at 42-41, with 8:25 to play but the Argonauts held on for the win.

Seasiders Fall to Sea Warriors

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team fell victim to a hot-shooting Hawaii Pacific squad tonight and fell 81-67 to the Sea Warriors in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 4-16 for the season and 4-7 in the conference, out-rebounded the Sea Warriors 39-25 in the game but got out-shot 51.9 percent to 44.6 percent and were out-scored at the free throw line 24-14.

Seasiders Cruise by Silverswords

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team picked up their second win in a row as they defeated Chaminade tonight, 69-53, in a Pacific West Conference road game. The Seasiders, now 4-15 overall and 4-6 in the PacWest, scored first, on a put-back by freshman Madison Kite, and never trailed in the game as they defeated the Silverswords for the second time this season.

Seasiders Hit Century Mark in Win

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team scored the most points in the two-year history of the program as they defeated UH-Hilo tonight, 100-86, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, whose previous high was 87 points in a win over Chaminade last year, also set a new team record for field goal percentage by knocking down 60.7 percent (34-56) of their shots including 55 percent (11-20) from three-point range as they improved to 3-15 overall and 3-6 in the PacWest.

Seasiders Lose to Dixie

St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost for the second night in a row on the road tonight against Dixie State, 86-66, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 2-15 overall and 2-6 in the PacWest, led 18-16 with 12:43 to play in the first half but were outscored 25-2 over the ensuing 11:42 and could never recover from the run.

St. George, UT—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost on the road tonight, losing to Dixie State 73-53 in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 2-14 overall and 2-5 in the PacWest, out-shot and out-rebounded the Rebels but couldn’t overcome 36 turnovers and a 17-42 disparity in free throw attempts.

Seasiders Lose Close One

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team put up a valiant rally but fell just short tonight, losing a hard-fought game against Hawaii Pacific, 70-68, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 2-13 overall and 2-4 in the PacWest, trailed by as many as 14 points in the second half but rallied to tie the game with 1:34 to play only to see the Sea Warriors pull out the win.

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost a hard-fought game tonight against Hawaii Pacific, 78-74, in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, now 2-12 overall and 2-3 in the PacWest, fell behind by four at the half could never quite catch the Sea Warriors in the second half.

Seasiders Dominate Silverswords

Laie, HI— The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team evened their conference record at 2-2 with a lopsided victory over Chaminade University of Honolulu. The Seasiders ended the first half up by nine and stretched the lead to as much as 31 to win with a final score of 84-55. BYU-Hawaii’s Agnes Tuilevuka had a great game on both sides of the ball, falling three steals short of a triple-double.

Seasiders Play Tough

Phoenix, AZ—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team overcame the effects of spending a day in the San Francisco Airport to play a tough game against Grand Canyon tonight in Pacific West Conference action, but couldn’t overcome the Antelopes, falling 85-60 to fall to 1-10 overall and 1-2 in the conference.

Argonauts Sink Seasiders

Belmont, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team suffered their first Pacific West Conference loss of the season tonight, losing to Notre Dame de Namur 87-49 after defeating the Argonauts by two points last night. The Seasiders, now 1-9 for the season and 1-1 in the conference, started the game well and were tied at 11-11 but yielded a seven-point blitz over a span of 30 seconds and could never get untracked the rest of the night.

Women Get First Win

Belmont, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team earned its first win of the season tonight by opening Pacific West Conference play with a thrilling 67-65 road win over Notre Dame de Namur. Freshman Madison Kite scored on a layup from a perfectly executed inbounds play with 4.5 seconds remaining to lift the Seasiders to the hard-fought win and move BYU–Hawaii to 1-8 for the season and 1-0 in the PacWest.

Seasiders Lose Another Close One

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost another hard fought game tonight, falling to Nebraska-Omaha 66-56 in their last non-conference game of the season. The Seasiders, now 0-9 for the season, fell behind by nine at the half and played catch-up the rest of the way before falling short.

Seasiders Struggle Down the Stretch

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team lost a hard fought game to the Colorado School of Mines 69-62. Richelle Fenenbock’s three point shot put the Seasiders (0-8) up 52-50 with less than six and a half minutes to play, but the Orediggers’ (6-4) shooting, 47% for the game, was too much for the Seasiders’ 34% down the stretch.

Seasiders Lose to Undefeated Seattle

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team dropped to 0-7 tonight after their second loss of the season to Seattle University 100-42. The game was tied early at 4-4 before Seattle went on a 23-0 run that held BYU-Hawaii scoreless for over ten minutes. The Redhawks’ halftime lead of 43-16 was insurmountable as the Seasiders shot 24% from the field and only 3-18 from the three-point arc.

Seasiders Fall to Aggies

Honolulu, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball dropped an 84-66 decision today to Oklahoma Panhandle as part of the Hoop ‘N Surf Tournament. The Seasiders, now 0-6 for the season, put up their largest point total of the season but it wasn’t enough as they couldn’t overcome a 20-point first half deficit.

Seasiders Lose to Top Team

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team put up an early fight against the top-ranked team in the country today before North Dakota pulled away from the smaller Seasiders on their way to a 71-37 victory in a non-conference game. The Seasiders trailed just 11-9 five-and-a-half minutes into the game but couldn’t sustain the effort against the unbeaten Fighting Sioux.

Seasiders Fall to Nanooks

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team got off to a slow start, falling behind by 24 points at the half, but showed signs of improvement in the second half before losing 73-48 to Alaska-Fairbanks tonight in non-conference action. The Seasiders trailed by as many as 40 points in the second half before battling back but ultimately fell to 0-4 on the season while the visiting Nanooks improved to 5-1 overall.

Saint Martins Upends Seasiders

Lacey, WA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team is still trying to work out the kinks early on in the season and had a hard time finding its rhythm on the road as they fell to Saint Martin’s University today. Their final game of their road trip resulted in a cold shooting night for the Seasiders that led to a 69-43 defeat and an 0-3 start to the season. BYUH trailed 37-20 at halftime but struggled to connect shooting 23 % for the game as the stingy Saint Martins defense caused 25 turn over’s against BYU–Hawaii on the night.

Seasiders Fall to Redhawks

Seattle, WA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team struggled through a disastrous first half and lost their second game of the season this afternoon, falling 82-29 to Seattle University in a non-conference game. The Seasiders, now 0-2 for the season, trailed 52-7 at halftime and, although they shot better in the second half, never got close in the game.

Seasiders Drop Season Opener

Bellingham, WA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team opened the season tonight on the road with a 69-39 loss to Western Washington in a non-conference tilt. The Seasiders, with only one player returning from last year’s squad, led 14-12 eight minutes into the game, but fell behind by ten at the half. The young Seasiders struggled after intermission, scoring just three free throws during a nearly ten minute opening to the period.

Seasiders Defeated by Huazhong

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team dropped a 74-44 decision to Huazhong University of the People’s Republic of China today on the final day of the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Classic. The visitors from Huazhong raced to a 48-18 halftime lead and the Seasiders, despite playing better in the second half, could get no closer than 26 points after intermission.

Seasiders Win

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii women’s basketball team overcame a sluggish first half tonight to defeat the Fiji National Women’s Team 74-68 at the American Money Group Asia-Pacific Basketball Classic hosted by BYU–Hawaii. The Seasiders, opening their exhibition season, trailed 33-25 at halftime but came back in the second half behind the hot shooting of freshman guard Richelle Fenenbock who scored 17 of her game-high 26 points in the second period and hit four three-pointers in the half.
