March 15th, 2008 Seasiders Fall to Undefeated Hawaii Pacific Laie, HI—BYU-Hawaii women’s softball took on un-defeated conference leader Hawaii Pacific University today in a double-header and fell to the Sea Warriors 12-2 in a run shortened first game, and 5-0 in the second game. The Sea Warriors managed just five more hits than the Seasiders 13 compared to 8, but those hits proved to be costly late in the game in driving in runs as HPU put up 7 runs in the final inning to widen the gap. A bright spot in game one was the return of Crystal De la Cruz who returned from an extended injury to go 2 for 3 in her first game back an adds another experienced bat to the line-up for the Seasiders. Game two was a pitchers duel between the two competing schools as both teams combined for only ten hits in the contest. HPU slowly built a lead though and finished off the Seasiders 5-0 in the end. With the loss the Seasiders fall 2-8 in conference play. The Seasiders look to bounce-back with a double-header game this Monday versus Wisconsin-Stout at 1 and 3pm in Laie.
