Seasiders Blast Tigers

Los Angeles, CA- The Brigham Young University-Hawaii women's softball team took out some frustration on Occidental College in a 12-0 pasting today. The game was the final game of a nine-game road trip for the Seasiders and ended a six-game losing streak.

Freshman Kassiopeia Hood tossed her fourth shutout of the season, allowing just two hits in the five-inning game. She struck out two and walked two.

BYU-Hawaii scored four times in the first inning and eight times in the second to put the game out of reach. Keri-Ann Napeahi led off the game with a double and later stole home on a double steal to set the tone for the game. BYU-Hawaii, which managed only 14 hits in the previous five games, pounded out 15 hits in the game, including eight in the second inning. Shortstop Crystal Elton smashed the big hit of the inning with a bases-loaded triple for three of her four RBI's in the game. Napeahi doubled and singled in the inning to drive in three runs of her own.

BYU-Hawaii improves to 10-24 on the season with the non-conference win. The Seasiders will play Chaminade in Honolulu on Wednesday.
