Softballers Shut Out Twice

Silver City, NM- The Brigham Young University-Hawaii women's softball team, feeling the effects of altitude, travel and the ailments brought on by having played two days in freezing cold and snow in Montana, dropped both ends of a doubleheader to Western New Mexico today in Silver City, 8-0 and 9-0.

The Seasiders couldn't get their bats going today, going hitless in the first game against the Mustang's Angela Slaugh and getting just two hits off Tiffany Mondhink in the second game. Both games were shortened to five innings by the eight-run rule. Crystal Elton managed a double for the Seasiders and Keri-Ann Napeahi singled for the other Seasiders' hit of the day.

BYU-Hawaii drops to 9-22 for the season and 2-12 in the Pacific West Conference while Western New Mexico improves to 25-7-1 overall and 16-2 in the PacWest. The two teams will face each other again tomorrow in a doubleheader.
