Seasiders Get Road Win

Mobile, AL—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team defeated West Alabama today 7-2 to improve to 7-1 for the season. The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches before winning five of the six singles matches for the win.

In today’s doubles action, Marvin So’onalole and Rong Ma picked up an 8-2 win at the top doubles position while Junichi Shimoda and Manu Bajpai took an 8-4 win at number two doubles to give the Seasiders the lead heading into singles play.

In singles action, Ma romped to a 6-1, 6-1 win at number one singles, Agnel Gladwin Peter picked up a similar 6-1, 6-1 win at the fourth slot, and Bajpai won 6-0, 6-4 at the third position. Shimoda claimed a straight set, 7-5, 6-3 win at number six singles and So’onalole earned a 6-2, 6-2 victory at the fifth singles spot.

The Seasiders will face West Florida tomorrow in Pensacola, Florida at 1:00 EDT.
