Seasiders Stymie Vulcans Again

Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team defeated UH-Hilo today 5-4 for the third time this season in the completion of a match that was started on Thursday and delayed by rain. This six singles matches were completed on the Thursday with the teams tied at 3-3. The Seasiders claimed two of the three doubles matches today to secure the win.

In today’s doubles action, Marvin So’onalole and A.J. Bartlett fought their way to an 8-6 win at the second double position while Agnel Gladwin Peter and Ben Stevenson took an 8-3 win at number three doubles to give the Seasiders the win.

In Thursday’s singles action, Rong Ma won 6-2, 6-1 at number two singles for BYU–Hawaii while Peter claimed a 6-0, 6-3 victory at number five and So’onalole prevailed at number six singles by a score of 6-2, 6-2. With the win the Seasiders improve to 5-1 for the season.

The Seasiders will face Sonoma State on Tuesday at 2:00 pm HST in Laie.
