Men Open with Win

Marvin So'onalole (shown in earlier action) won his singles match today

Hilo, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s tennis team opened the new season today with a 5-4 victory over UH-Hilo on the road. The Seasiders took two of the three doubles matches and then won at numbers one, two, and five singles to claim the win.

Freshman Rong Ma scored a double win for the Seasiders as he teamed with Junichi Shimoda for an 8-5 doubles win at the third position and then claimed a 6-0, 6-2 win at number two singles. Agnel Gladwin Peter teamed with Ben Stevenson for an 8-4 win at number one doubles for BYU–Hawaii and A.J. Bartlett took a 6-2, 6-3 win at number one singles. Marvin So’onalole secured the fifth win with a 6-3, 6-4 triumph at number five singles.

The Seasiders will battle the Vulcans again tomorrow in Hilo at 10:00 am HST.
