Seasiders Get Second Win

Shawn Blymiller collides with the La Verne goalie as Michael Akinaka looks on and the ball sails away in today's match

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team won their second overtime match of the season today on a nifty goal by Brian Noguera in the 102nd minute in the second overtime period. Noguera dribbled between three defenders before launching the shot that found the back left corner of the goal to end the marathon game and boost the Seasiders to 2-1 for the season.

Goal keeper Doug Hansen saved seven for the Seasiders, including a couple of spectacular saves, to keep BYU–Hawaii in the game and set the stage for Noguera’s game winner. For the game, BYU–Hawaii Hawaii out shot the visiting Leos 14-11 but could not get the ball in the net to win it in regulation.

BYU–Hawaii will face Chaminade on Friday at 5:00 pm HST in Maui as part of the Hawaii Collegiate Challenge Cup.
