Seasiders Fall to Lumberjacks

The Seasiders (shown in earlier action) couldn't get the ball past the Humboldt goalie today

Arcata, CA—The Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team brought their marathon road trip to an end today with a 2-0 loss at Humboldt State. The Seasiders, playing their sixth road match in nine days and playing for the third day in a row, nevertheless put up a battle before finally succumbing to the pressure from the Lumberjacks late in the second half.

Despite being out shot 19-10, the Seasiders kept the Lumberjacks at bay until the 78th minute when Humboldt State scored on a header by Tim Haden off a free kick by Jon Eseman. Eseman then scored the final goal of the game in the 80th minute on a penalty kick.

BYU–Hawaii goalie Doug Hansen made seven saves in the game as the Seasiders fell to 5-6 for the season.

BYU–Hawaii will play on the road again on Saturday but this time it will be a little closer to home as they take on Chaminade in Honolulu at 2:00 pm HST.
