Belmont, CA—Lance Ford scored in the 73rd minute off a free kick pass from Adam Maciejewski to give the Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer team a come-from-behind 2-1 victory over Notre Dame de Namur today in Pacific West Conference action. The Seasiders, trailing 1-0 at halftime rallied for their first conference win of the season to improve to 5-4 overall and 1-1 in the conference. Notre Dame de Namur scored in the 28th minute on a goal by Chris Arceo but the BYU–Hawaii defense shut out the Argonauts the rest of the way behind goalie Doug Hansen’s six saves. Sam Akinaka headed one in off a pass from Trenton Read in the 53rd minute to get the Seasiders to a 1-1 tie and set the stage for Ford’s game winner. The Seasiders won on the road despite being out shot by the Argonauts 17-11. BYU–Hawaii will face Cal State-Monterey Bay on Monday in Monterey, California at 1:30 pm PDT as they continue their six-game road trip.
