BYUH Picked Fourth

Michael Akinaka (shown in last year's action) hopes to help the Seasiders slide up the PacWest standings this year

Laie, HI—The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men’s soccer team has been picked by the conference coaches to finish in the middle of the pack in the preseason poll released by the conference. The Seasiders, 7-6-1 last season and 5-4-1 in the conference, were projected to finish fourth in the six-team conference.

Last season was the first season of men’s soccer at BYU–Hawaii since the program was dropped after the 2000 season and the Seasiders achieved a winning record in their first year back. Head Coach Jeff Miller expects this year’s team to be better than last season but the PacWest looks to be a very competitive conference this year with Grand Canyon picked to finish in first place followed by Notre Dame de Namur, Hawaii Pacific, the Seasiders, UH-Hilo, and Chaminade. Dixie State does not field a team in men’s soccer.
