Laie, HI—Brigham Young University Hawaii men’s soccer player Brian Noguera was named one of two Co-Newcomers of the Year and to the All-Conference First Team by the Pacific West Conference today. Noguera, a senior from Provo, Utah was named earlier to the 2007 Daktronics All-Far West Region Second Team. Four other Seasiders were given All-Conference honors by the PacWest, with Shawn Blymiller and Adam Maciejewski being placed on the All-Conference Second Team and Michael Akinaka and Collin Walch garnering Honorable Mention honors. Noguera, a midfielder, led the conference in points with 25 and in points per game at 1.32. He was second in the PacWest in goals per game (.47) and assists per game (.37) and tied for second in goals with nine. Blymiller, a junior forward from Taylorsville, Utah, scored seven goals this season and finished with 16 points for the Seasiders. Maciejewski, a freshman midfielder from Hamburg, Germany, scored four goals and had one assist during the year. Akinaka, a senior midfielder from Haiku, Maui, made the conference second team as a junior last season. Walch is a freshman defender from Scotts Valley, California and was an important cog in the Seasider back line this season.
