Bellingham, WA—The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men’s golf team shot a combined 638 today for the first two rounds of the Western Washington Invitational. The Seasiders shot 318 in the morning round and then came back with a 320 in the afternoon round to leave them in 14th place after the first day of the tournament. The Seasiders trail Northwest Nazarene by just four strokes. Freshman Brandon Van Dyke carded the day’s lowest score for the Seasiders with a four-over 76 in the second round to finish the day at 154 in a tie for 50th place individually. Kyle Kunioka scored a 79 in the morning and ended at 154 and a tie for 65th place. Brett Puterbaugh finished with a 164 total good for a tie for 69th and Abel Soares finished in 73rd place with a score of 168. Neal Manutai completed his rounds at 174 and 75th place. British Columbia leads the tournament with a 556 score and Brandin Markiw of British Columbia leads individually with a 137 total. The Seasiders will complete the tournament tomorrow.
