Quick Facts Season | April 22, 2008 Seasiders Still Fifth
Turtle Bay, HI—The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men’s golf team remained in fifth place after day two of the Hawaiian Airlines Pacific West Conference Championship Tournament today at Turtle Bay’s Palmer Course. The Seasiders shot a team total of 318 today, 12 better than yesterday’s round, on the par 72 course but couldn’t gain ground on fourth-place Dixie State as they trail the Rebels by ten strokes entering tomorrow’s final round. BYU-Hawaii’s Kyle Kunioka turned in the day’s best round for the Seasiders with a two-over 74 for a two-round total of 162 and a tie for 20th place. Brett Puterbaugh shot a 79 today to lead the Seasiders’ team scoring with a 161 total and a tie for 18th place. Josh Coon carded his second straight 81 to match Kunioka’s two-day total of 162 and Brandon Van Dyke sits another stroke back at 163 after shooting an 84 today to tie for 22nd place. Neal Manutai sits all alone in 33rd place after today’s 91 left him at 181 for the tournament. BYU–Hawaii’s Derek Hall, playing as an individual due to an earlier injury, shot an 81 today and is tied for 13th with a score of 159. Grand Canyon leads the team scoring in the tournament with a 606, just three shots ahead of UH-Hilo, and the Antelopes’ Terence Daniels, who is the only golfer to shoot par or better in either round with a 71 today, is tied for the individual lead with UH-Hilo’s Zady Ari at five-over 149. The tournament will conclude tomorrow on the Palmer Course. |
