Seasiders Finish Tourney

Goodyear, AZ—The Brigham Young University-Hawaii men’s golf team shot a closing-round score of 306 today to finish in 16th place at the Grand Canyon Thunderbird Invitational held on the par 72 Palm Valley Golf Club course in Goodyear, Arizona. The Seasiders shot a team total of 916 for the tournament to better their team score from last year by 21 strokes at the same tournament.

Brandon Van Dyke shot a two-over 74 in the final round for a 220 score to finish tied for 25th place in the tournament to lead the Seasiders. Derek Hall also carded a 74 to finish at 231 and move up to a tie for 72nd. Kyle Kunioka came in an 82 today for a 232 score and a tie for 76th place. Brett Puterbaugh shot a 79 for a 236 total and a tie for 89th. Joshua Coon also shot a 79 in today’s round to finish tied for 97th at 246.

Wayland Baptist won the tournament with a team score of 845 and Kevin Stinson of Wayland Baptist took medalist honors with an 11-under-par score of 205 that included an eight-under 64 in today’s round.

BYU–Hawaii’s next action will be on April 16th against Hawaii Pacific and Chaminade at Turtle Bay’s Palmer Course with the first tee time at 1:00 pm.
