Chrisman Leads Exhibition Win

Laie, HI-Brigham Young University-Hawaii's men's basketball team defeated Sung Kyun Kwan University tonight 96-89 in an exhibition game as part of the Asia-Pacific Basketball Classic. Junior transfer Jake Chrisman led the Seasiders with 31 points, 25 of which came in the second half to spark a comeback after the Seasiders were down by four at halftime.

Trailing 43-39 at the break, BYU-Hawaii shot a blistering 71 percent in the second half as Michael Stowell dropped in 13 of his 20 points in the second stanza to complement Chrisman's outburst and spearhead the comeback. Chrisman snagged a game-high ten rebounds to give him a double-double for the night. Austin Smylie and Shawn Opunui were both just shy of double-double's with Smylie scoring 17 points and bringing down nine rebounds and Opunui putting up 12 points and delivering nine assists.

BYU-Hawaii out-shot Sung Kyun Kwan 62 percent to 48 percent, and snatched 44 rebounds to their 25. Sun Kyun Kwan stayed alive in the game with long-range shooting, as they put down 13 three-pointers to the Seasiders' three. The visitors were also aided by 13 BYU-Hawaii turnovers while Sung Kyun Kwan committed just six. Lim Hyo Sung led the way for Sung Kyun Kwan, nailing five three-point shots and putting up 21 total points and teammate Park San Woo chipped in 20 points.

The Seasiders play another exhibition game tomorrow at 7:00 pm against Team Samoa to close the Asia-Pacific Basketball Classic.
