General Information
Why does BYU-Hawaii give scholarships?
BYU-Hawaii offers scholarships to select students who have
demonstrated a serious and diligent commitment to academic excellence
as an investment in their education. The gift of a scholarship carries
an obligation on the part of the recipient to use that investment
wisely to prepare for expanded and purposeful service to the university,
the world, and the Lord's kingdom.
Where does BYU-Hawaii get the funding for scholarships?
About 80% of BYU-Hawaii's scholarships are funded from the
tithes of the LDS Church. The other 20% come from generous donations
from friends of the University. Consequently, there is a huge responsibility
to administer these funds wisely.
