Scholarship Eligibility
If I didn't receive a scholarship as a
new freshman, am I eligible for future awards?
Yes. Not receiving a scholarship as an incoming freshman
does not preclude the possibility of receiving one in the future.
Many departments distribute their awards semester by semester. You
should contact your academic department to find out how to be considered for the next distribution period.
Likewise, the donor-related private scholarships are usually distributed twice a year.
Can I receive more than one scholarship at the same time?
Yes, but because scholarship funds are limited, the university
prefers to award as many students as possible rather than award
a few students with many scholarships. Consequently, the majority
of students rarely receive more than one Institutional or Private
scholarship. Likewise, departments will rarely award a student with
more than one Department scholarship.
Can part-time students receive scholarships?
Because scholarship funds are limited, they are designated
for full-time students who are enrolled for at least 12 hours
per semester, or 6 hours per term. We sometimes make exceptions to the full-time
enrollment requirement for students who have been approved for
a reduced load due to severe illness or injury, and for graduating
students attending their last semester. The exception is usually
only granted for a single enrollment period.
Does BYU-Hawaii have scholarships to help me pursue a Master's degree?
These are very rare, but there are a few private scholarships
designed to assist with postgraduate schooling. Visit the Private
scholarship Post Graduate page
to review them.
