Scholarship Requirements:

 

  • Minimum Cumulative GPA 2.5
  • Major: chemistry, biology, physics, science education, general science with a teaching certificate, or elementary education with a minor in any of the general sciences.
  • Abide by the Honor Code of the University
  • Enrolled at BYU-Hawaii for 12 credit hours per semester
    (6 credits per term)
  • Student from one of the South Pacific islands
  • Preference shall be given to students who have given volunteer service while in high school (documented by a list of service given and if possible, the number of hours served), or service rendered within the MSC Division or the School of Education while attending BYU-Hawaii.
  • Those receiving awards shall be eligible for awards in subsequent years if the recipient serves as a tutor or learning assistant for at least five hours per week per semester.
  • Applicants are to submit a signed commitment that they intend to return and teach at a school in the South Pacific for a period of three years upon completing their education
  • Submit a completed private scholarship application form to the Scholarship Office by the deadline.
  • Attach a typed, one-page essay to your application.
