General Information

To be considered for any BYU-Hawaii scholarship, an individual must be officially admitted to the University. Students enrolled as visiting or non-degree seeking are not eligible for federal aid, scholarships, or any other financial aid. To learn more about the admissions process and to access an online admissions form, visit the Admissions web site.

Steps For Success

2. Search for scholarships within the three categories that you are qualified for and that are available.

3. Submit application materials to the correct department prior to the deadline of each award. Most application forms are Adobe Acrobat PDF files, and may be downloaded, viewed, and printed if the free Adobe Reader software is correctly installed on your computer.

Scholarship Categories

BYU-Hawaii distributes scholarships in three separate categories as outlined below. A brief explanation of each category is provided below. You may also click on the category names to go to its page.

Private Scholarships are available because of funds provided by friends of the University who donate to BYU-Hawaii. The qualifications for each scholarship are different because the donor often establishes the requirements.

Each student may apply for up to THREE private scholarships during the primary distribution period and only ONE private scholarship during the secondary distribution period.

You can review all private scholarships or a list of only the currently available private scholarships.

A private scholarship will have the logo to the right displayed on its page.

Department Scholarships are available from each academic area. These are competitive academic and recruitment-based awards. The application procedures, deadlines, and forms vary significantly for each department.

Search the Department scholarship page for your field of study to see what information is available. Not all departments provide information for this web site. You should contact your Department Chair or Academic Advisor if there is insufficient information on this web site regarding department scholarships for your field of study.

Recruitment Scholarships are also available each year. These include recruitment-based awards, talent awards, athletic awards, and academic-based awards.

There are two broad types; those that require an application form, and those that are participatory and selection-based. For more information about these awards, you will need to carefully review the requirements of each award as listed on the recruitment scholarship page.
