Summary of Financial Aid Changes for 2008-09

- IWES students will no longer be eligible to apply or receive institutional scholarships or awards beyond the IWES institutional aid.

- Non athlete book awards can only be used for books of classes in which the student is registered

- The maximum amount of Pell Grant a student can be eligible for increases from $4,310 to $4,731

Summary of Financial Aid Changes for 2007-08

Beginning with the 2007-2008 school year, students who request a Stafford Loan will be required to complete entrance counseling each year.

The following scholarship has been discontinued

- Entitlement-based Returned Missionary award

The following scholarships have been discontinued. Students who would have been eligible for these,

will automatically be considered for new Admissions Recruitment Scholarships based on information

received with their admissions packet.

- Ho'omana'o Presidential Award

- Ho'omana'o Award

- Makana 'Ike Presidential Transfer Scholarship

- Makana 'Ike Transfer Scholarship

New or Revised Scholarships for 2007-08

- Admissions Recruitment Scholarship (no application - new admits considered automatically)

- Returned Missionary Voucher program (no application - Mission Presidents provide voucher to new admit)

Summary of Financial Aid Changes for 2006-07

-March 31st application deadline for all scholarships

-All scholarships offered for the entire year, rather than semester by semester

-Single award letter that includes all financial aid

-Award letters delivered electronically via email

-Ability of students to check financial aid 24/7 online at https://my.byuh.edu

-Students, who indicate on the FAFSA they are interested in loans, are packaged automatically for subsidized Stafford Loans.

-Japanese Language Skill Award discontinued after the 2005-06 school year.

Short-term loan discontinued and replaced with:
	-Deferred Payment Plan ($50 service fee)
	-Book Loan (Charge card for use at the BYUH Bookstore)

Disbursement Changes:
	-No cash refunds available at the Cashier office
	-Pell Grant & Stafford Loan funds no longer issued as checks. Funds are deposited to student accounts to initially pay for institutional charges.
	-Refund checks only available after all institutional charges are paid based on charge priorities, including payment plans and book loans.

Returned Missionary Award:
	-New application form to be used instead of just the release certificate
	-2006-07 will be the last year this award will be entitlement-based
	-This means that beginning with the 2007-2008 school year not all returned missionaries will receive an award. Awards will be available on a competitive basis and only up to the amount of funding that is available.
