Priority Processing Dates

Students who are U.S. citizens, permanent residents, and U.S. nationals should complete their annual tax returns and submit their FAFSA each year by March 15th to be considered for Federal Aid and need-based scholarships for the entire next school year.  By completing the FAFSA by this priority processing date students can be assured that (if eligible) aid will be available in a timely manner at the beginning of the fall semester.

Most universities that use competitive-based Federal Aid will encourage students to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible on or after January 1st of each year.  BYU-Hawaii however, does not utilize these competitive aid programs.

Thus BYUH students are encouraged to complete the FAFSA after the student and parents have completed their prior-year tax returns.  This minimizes the need to make corrections at a later date.  If students are not able to complete the FAFSA by March 15th, they should attempt to complete it as soon as possible thereafter.
