Maintaining Scholarship Eligibility
Students must meet the minimum criteria as listed in the General Scholarship Policies.
In addition, students who receive scholarships that have more stringent or additional requirements must also adhere to these criteria as specified in the award letter and/or respective scholarship webpage.
Department academic awards are awarded to students for maintaining a high cumulative grade point average and for majoring in a specific program. If a student drops below the CGPA requirement or changes major, future disbursements will not occur because the student has not maintained eligibility.
The CGPA eligibility is determined by the CGPA at the time of each disbursement, not the CGPA the student had at the time he applied for the scholarship.
For multi-year awards that are renewable each year if the student meets the requirements, student eligibility will be evaluated at the end of each winter semester. Based on information available at the time (end of winter semester), an award may be re-offered for the next school year. The offer however is contingent upon the student remaining eligible after the spring/summer terms. If the student does not remain eligible after spring/summer, even if an offer was initially made for the next school year, the student will not receive the award.
Each enrolled student is required to obtain an ecclesiastical endorsement each year. In addition, students must be incompliance with the BYUH Honor Code to receive financial aid. If for any reason a student loses his/her ecclesiastical endorsement the student is no longer eligible for future financial aid disbursements until the endorsement is re-established.
