What am I searching?

You are searching a selection of general resources available through the library, including journal article databases, the library catalog, and online encyclopedias and dictionaries; specifically, these resources are:

Academic Search Premier (EBSCO)

A Multi-disciplinary database. This database includes citations for articles in most areas of academic study. Sources are drawn from over 3,200 journals, with almost 1300 peer-reviewed titles. Full-text is available for 1,850 publications. Coverage is from 1985 to the present.

Blackwell Synergy

Blackwell/Synergy indexes articles and offers access to journals in a variety of disciplines published by Blackwell Publishing. Using their new Cross-Ref searching, researchers can now search titles from other publishers. Primarily, Blackwell journals deal with the sciences, but other topics in the arts, humanities, the law and more are available. Blackwell/Synergy indexes more than 750 titles and offers some full text. Coverage for most titles begins in 1990, but varies by title. Content is updated continuously. We have the full text of anything in green.

CQ Researcher

The CQ Researcher explores a single "hot" issue in the news in depth each week. Topics range from social and teen issues to environment, health, education and science and technology. There are 44 reports produced each year including four expanded reports. Search or browse by topic and/or issue; 1991-present.

Encyclopedia Britannica Online

Consists of a fully searchable and browsable collection of authoritative references, including Britannica's latest article database, articles not yet in the print Britannica encyclopedia, Merriam-Webster's collegiate dictionary (tenth edition), and the Britannica book of the year.

Gale Virtual Reference Library

Gale Virtual Reference Library is a database of encyclopedias, almanacs, and specialized reference sources for multidisciplinary research. These reference materials once were accessible only in the library, but now you can access them online from the library or remotely 24/7. Because each library creates its own eBook collection, the content you see may vary if you use the database at different libraries (your school, your public library, or your office).

Google Scholar

Google Scholar provides a simple way to broadly search for scholarly literature. From one place, you can search across many disciplines and sources: peer-reviewed papers, theses, books, abstracts and articles, from academic publishers, professional societies, preprint repositories, universities and other scholarly organizations.

NFOMINE is librarian built and a virtual library of Internet resources relevant to faculty, students, and research staff at the university level. It contains useful Internet resources such as databases, electronic journals, electronic books, bulletin boards, mailing lists, online library card catalogs, articles, directories of researchers, and many other types of information.

JSTOR

JSTOR focuses on humanities, social science, and more recently, science titles which have proven themselves vital to these disciplines and which have many years of publication, in some cases going back to the 19th century.

Lexis Nexis Academic News
