John M. “Jake” Urner, 77, of Honolulu, a
long-time Realtor, died Nov. 22, 1998. He was born in Palo Alto, Calif. He was
a Waimanalo farmer and a World War II B-26 bomber pilot, and later flew for
Hawaiian Airlines. He was in real estate for four decades in Hawaii, owning
several realty companies. In 1957, he founded the Hawaii Water Sports Co.,
which he managed for 12 years. Urner served on the board of directors for the
Boys and Girls Club and was a member of the Outrigger Canoe Club. He is
survived by wife Linda; daughters Susan Thornett, Sharon Pettus and Melissa
Lee; sister Mary Campbell, and two grandchildren. Private burial will be today
at the National Memorial Cemetery of the Pacific. Donations may be made in his
