(Julita) Santos of CA, Jerry P. Caroline  Estella Sagapolutele, 61, of Honolulu, died Feb. 156, 1995.  She was born in American Samoa. Nancy Sueko “Sue” Saiki, 49, of Honolulu, died Jan. 11, 1995.  She was born in Okinawa, Japan. Bernard A. Saito of Mililani, a retired Young Men's Christian. Association counselor, died last Thursday, Dec 28, 1995 in St. Francis-West Hospital. -Saito, 60, was born in Honolulu. Chiyono Sakuma,  78, of Papaikou, died Feb. 8, 1995.  She was born in Kalaoa, Papaikou, and was the retired owner of  the Papaikou Lunch Shop (also known as the Sakuma Store), and a member of the Shin Camp Kumiai.  Survived by husband,  Yaichi; son, Larry of Hilo; daughter, Carol Inamasu of Mililani; brothers, Morio, Kawahara of California, Masayuki Kawahara of Honolulu, Kazuto Kawahara of Maui and Osamu Kawahara of Honolulu; sisters, Kimiko Kitagawa and Nancy Maeda, both of Honolulu; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. David Santos  Sr., 76, of Kapaa, Kauai, died Feb. 7, 1995. He was born in Honollulu and was a retired state equipment operator, and a coach and umpire with Kawaihau T Ball and Little League.  Survived by wife Helen; daughters, Barbara Ventura, Gwendolyn  Taeza and Margaret Villatora; sons, David Jr. of Texas, and Leroy Sr. of Wailua Homesteads; brother, Joseph of Honolulu; sister, Aunty Alice of Honolulu; 17 grandchildren; and 19 great-grandchildren. Frank Santos, 84, of Hilo, Hawaii, died  Feb. 20, 1995.  He was born in Hilo, was retired projectionist for the former Hilo and Palace theatres, and member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, and Holy Name  SocietySt. Joseph.  Survived by wife, Julia G.; son, Arthur L. of WI; daughter, Collette Nelson; and three grandchildren. Walter Hakaru “Jack  Sasaki, 79, of Pahala, Hawaii, died Feb. 7, 1995.  He was born in Holualoa, Kona, Hawaii, was a retired  Ka’u Sugar  Co supervisor, and Explorer  Scout Advisor, and past president of Pahala Hongwanji Mission Kyodan.  Survived by wife,  Fujine; son, Lawrence of Ohio; daughter,  Susan  Uliveto of Ohio; brothers,  George of Honolulu and Harold of Kona; sisters,  Kinuko Fujinami of Honolulu and Margaret Kihara of Kona; five grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.  [Adv Feb. 10, 1995]

 

Ichiro Sasamura, 87, of Hilo, died  Feb. 15, 1995.  He was born in Mountain View and was a retired maintenance man for the Ilikai Hotel.  He was former owner of I. Sasamura Painting Contractors and also was a member of the Honpa Hongwanji Hilo Kyodan.  Survived by wife, Sueko; sons, Ted, Melvin of Wahiawa, Clyde of Pearl City; daughter, Mae Okinaga of Pepeekeo; sisters, Mrs. Yoshiye  Nakamura of CA and Mrs.  Sumako Fukumitsu of Honolulu; nine grandchildren; three great-grandchildren.

 

Doris Kimiyo  Sato, 86, of Honolulu, died Feb. 12, 1995.  She was born in Honolulu, was a homemaker and member of Soto Mission of Hawaii and Ala Wai Rinyu Kai.  Survived by son and daughter-in-law, Raymond T. and Momoe; daughter, Mrs. David Y.C. Isamu Sato, 84, of Kailua, Hawaii, died  Jan. 21, 1995 at Castle Medical Center.  He was born Jan. 31, 1910 in Ewa Oahu. Survived by wife, Dorothy S.; son, Roy A. (Sharon Y.) Sato of Mililani; daughters, Mrs. Wesley M. (Joyce E.) Kurihara of Kailua, Mrs. Arthur (Patricia T.) Yeoman of Kirkland Island, WA, Mrs. Douglas T. Paul William “Ace  Scanlon, 74, of Honolulu, died Jan. 13, 1995.  He was born in Canton, OH, and served in the U.S. Army from 1942-46. Olga Phyllis  Schwingen, 69, of Kailua, Oahu died Feb.  20, 1995 at her residence. She was born Oct. 28, 1925 in Chicago, was a cashier at Stewarts Drug Store, Kailua and at the Kaneohe Marine Corps Barracks of Hawaii, and was a member of St. John Vianney Church, and Kailua Senior Citizens Club. Survived by husband, Robert; daughters, Phyllis M. Cramer of North Carolina and Donna J. Fass; three grandchildren; sister, Irene Dash of Illinois. Irma Wagner Stewart Sekiguchi, 79, of Honolulu, died Jan. 13, 1995.  Born in Danville, PA, she performed on New York stages and after moving to Hawaii more then 40 years ago, worked in real estate development.  She cared for and found homes for stray cats.  Survived by brother, Robert D. Shoji “Gary” Sekiya, 78, of Honolulu,  died Feb. 2, 1995 at St. Francis Medical Center.  He was born Feb. 1, 1917 in Honolulu. He is survived  by wife,  Yachiyo; son, Gerald Y. Joseph Elliot Seldin, 53, of Honolulu, died Jan. 23, 1995.  He was born in New York and was a lecturer and sociology professor  since 1971 at the University of Hawaii and researcher specializing in  drug use and abuse in Hawaii.  Survived by mother, Bina Seldin of Florida;  cousin, Ellen Marcus of Florida.  [Adv Jan. 25, 1995]

 

Louise Sellman of Kailua-Kona, a retired administrative secretary for New Mexico's workers   home. Sellrnan, 56, born in Santa Fe, N.M.  is survived by sons Jerry and Marshall Stutts; brothers Marshall Jr. and Tom; sister Mary A. Kelsey; and two grandchildren. Barry Wayne Sherman, 39, of Dallas, TX, died Jan. 24, 1995 at Tripler Medical Center.
