Outer Space

Beyond the planet we call earth lies a vast universe called the solar system. Our solar system consists of nine planets - Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune, and Pluto - as well as asteroids and other celestial bodies that all orbit the sun. Our solar system is in the shape of a disk and only makes up part of a galaxy, or group of stars, called the Milky Way. The solar system has fascinated people of all ages since the beginning of time. This pathfinder is designed to aid the teacher in preparing lessons and activities that will intrigue students and facilitate discussion and understanding in the classroom. This pathfinder does not contain all the information that is available on solar systems. It is merely a guide to help you on your way. Be creative with your search. Remember that when it comes to the solar system, the sky is the limit!
