Presidents' Day

Did you know that in 1971 President Richard Nixon proclaimed a single federal public holiday honoring all past presidents of the United States of America? This holiday is called Presidents’ Day and is observed on the third Monday of February. This day is a time to explore the executive branch of government and the men who have held this office. While Abraham Lincoln and George Washington’s birthdays were previously celebrated individually on the 12th and 22nd of February, they are now honored with all of the past presidents on Presidents’ Day. This pathfinder will guide you to many helpful resources that will not only teach your students about Abraham Lincoln and George Washington, but all past presidents of the United States.
