One sunny Tuesday morning Lucy rocketed out of bed, put on her shirt, pants, belt. flip-flops, and sunglasses and went downstairs to eat her #1 breakfast, chocolate chip pancakes with strawberries, chocolate syrup, and milk. Lucy crawled into the kitchen like a lion and roared loudly, "GRRRRR pancakes are grrrreat!!" interupting her mom, dad, and little brother, Jack's conversation. Lucy stood up and grabbed all 3 hot panakes from the spatula in her mom's hand and sat down in a chair. The Lucy reached over Jack, which knocked his fork out of his hand, picked up the butter in her hands, smeared it over her pancake using her finger as knife, and wiped the remaining butter on the tablecloth (it was mom's favorite). Lucy tied her napkin around her neck and ZAP! she became Super Lucy. SuperLucy stood on top of the table swooshed over dad's plate, picked up the strawberries, swooshed back and stood on top of her chair. SuperLucy shoved one pancake and 3 strawberries in her mouth. Then with mouth wide open and her lips smacking, SuperLucy tried to sing "Happy Birthday" to Felix, Lucy's pet fish. "Sniff"Lucy has a runny nose. Lucy grabbed her dad's tie, that was still around his neck, and blew her nose on it. ULP! Lucy is making her mom, dad, and Jack miserable. Where are Lucy's table manners? They must be lost. What is Lucy's family to do?? It looks like a case for... Detective Maximo Manners!!! Search through the following resources to help Maximo find Lucy's missing manners before it's too late!!!

Detective Maximo Manners Fabulously Fun Take Home Ideas

Eat dinner with the President of the United States, or at least pretend he is the guest of honor. Wear your best clothes and eat by candlelight off your best dishes.

Make magnifying glasses out of paper, a pipe cleaner, a toilet paper roll, or whatever you want. Use them to detect various manners seen, good or bad, throughout the day. Record findings in a manners log. Play manners show and tell to share findings.

Transform your dining room into a restaurant. Make a menu and invite friends, family, and neighbors. Take turns being the waiter/waitress and the guests. Put all dishes neccessary to set the table in an unorganized pile. Play a game to see who can set the table properly.

Make up skits displaying proper table manners and not so proper table manners. Videotape them and use them to teach and review social graces. Also, video kids before and after teaching table manners. Have them evaluate the difference.

Create your own manners! Make them as crazy, silly, or serious as you want. For example, no talking only singing allowed at the dinner table or stand on your chair and dance after every bite.
