Lebrado Stanley Cabanting Sr., 53, of Hilo, Hawaii, formerly of Hauula, Oahu and Honokaa, Hawaii, died, Jan. 9, 1995.  He was born in Ookala Hawaii, and was an ambulance driver for Honokaa Hospital and a member of Hawaiian Bowling Club.  Survived by wife, Muriel Mae Kaleo Cabanting; sons, Lebrado Jr., Levy S., Kepo’o and Zion De Guzman; daughters, Susan Yoneda of Maui, Jolanda-Mae of Honolulu, Terry Lynn Silva, Carman, and Robin Poepoe; hanai sons and daughters; mother Mae Kaleo of Hauula, sister, Mae Ferrer of Hauula; 21 grandchildren. Francisco  Peralta Cabiles,  91, of Waiphau, Hawaii, passed away  on Jan. 26, 1995 at St. Francis Medical Center-West.  He was born Jun. 12, 1903 in the Philippines and a member of the Laborers Union. Survived by husband, the Rev. Pedro F. Carlos,  70, of Waianae, died Jan. 14, 1995 at his residence.  He was born Sep. 4, 1924 in Honolulu and was a retired first class  lineman at Hawaiian Electric with over 40 years of service.  Survived by wife, Virginia M.; sons, Peter K. and Wendall L.; daughters, Carol J. Aleta E. Carmer , 97, a part-time Honolulu resident, died Jan. 24, 1995. Survived by son Capt. (retired) E.A. Carmer of California; daughter Claire C. Wright of Honolulu; and four grandchildren, including local attorney James H. Wright; and five great-grandchildren.  [Adv Feb. 1, 1995]

 

Mary Lou Johnston Carter , widely known as  a lighting  designer, sportswoman and philanthropist.  Carter, 56, who divided  her time between homes in Honolulu, Maui and San Francisco, died at her San Francisco home, Feb. 6, 1995.  Her Diamond Head home was frequently the site of fund-raising dinners and galas for local causes, as well as for private entertainment of family and friends.  The widow of George R. Carter III, Carter was a native of California  and a graduate of Punahou School and Briarcliff College.  An award winning developer of lighting design for public, commercial,  and private buildings, Carter was well known  in architecture and  interior design circles.  Her early career as a cartographer, included road mapping  in Californai and classified  work for the military in Honolulu.  A champion swimmer, Carter represented the United States  at the Pan American Games in Brazil in synchronized  swimming.  She was a paddler for the Lahaina  and Outrigger  canoe clubs.  As a member of the board of governors of  Seabury Hall, Maui, she was instrumental in raising funds  for campus expansion, including he Middle School building dedicated to her late husband and his parents, George R. Carter II and Caroline Balding  Carter.  Carter also served as a director  of the Strong Carter Foundation, supporters of the Strong-Carter Dental  Clinic at Kalihi Palama Immigrant Service Center.  She was also active in many local  organizations devoted to education, historic preservation and the arts.  Carter is survived by sons, Donald R., James S. and J. Douglas Beaton; her mother, Cecily Johnston; brothers, Stanton H., Donald L., David H. and Stephen S. Johnston; sister, Diane Johnston Paton; and three grandchildren.  [Adv Feb. 12, 1995]

 

Daniel Perry Carvalho Jr., 54, of Honolulu, died Jan. 17, 1995 at Queen’s Medical Center. Marianne Carvalho of Honolulu died last Wednesday, Dec 27, 1995 in St. Francis Hospice. Carvalho, 89, was born in Kalua­nui, Maui. She was a sister of the Third Franciscan Order of Syracuse, N.Y., and worked in Wailuku, Honolulu and Kalaupapa, Molokai. She is survived by sisters Rose C. and Lucy C. Calistro; and brothers Alfred S. -and David S. Service: 6:30, p.m. Friday at S Francis Convent. Call after 6 p.m. Friday and from 8 to 8:30 a.m. Saturday at the convent. Caseres Wailuku head shift supervisor for Dairy Queen Restaurant, died Dec. 24, 1995 in Maui Memorial Hospital.  Caseres, 54, was born in Wailuku.  She is survived by husband Glen; sons Glen, Sherman, Derek and Michael; daughters Evie Casseres and Alohilani Williams; brother Danile P. Masey Kaukaohu Chan, 35, of Honolulu, died  Feb. 11, 1995 at home.  He was born Mar. 3, 1959 in Honolulu and was a visual artist.  Survived by parents, Ernest and Nani Chan; brother,  Guy of WA; sister, Julie Nurre; paternal grandfather, Ernest A.T.; maternal grandmother, Juanita Guerrero Kapu; aunts and uncles.
