What is the Seasider Cable Network?
Cable programming, television equipment, and interconnecting cable.
An organization under University Communications and Public Relations that facilitates campus cable television.
If I have a problem with my cable connection where do I call?
If you are in TVA or the town homes, contact the TVA Office, 293-1426. You can also e-mail TV Systems at: SCNTV@byuh.edu
In your apartment, classroom, or townhouse, you will find a TV outlet which you can connect to your television with a coaxial cable. If the channels are not appearing, then you may need to do a channel search option on the menu screen to search and recognize the cable channels.
Where does the university get its commercial TV channel programming?
Oceanic/Time Warner provides us with commercial programming.
How many channels do we have on our Campus Cable TV system?
At present, we have 21: 16 from Oceanic and 5 from BYU-Hawaii.
Who chooses what channels we have?
The BYU-Hawaii administration.
Can we call Ocean/Time Warner and add additional channels?
No. Our Campus Cable TV system is regulated by the University.
Will we ever have more than 21 channels? And when?
At some future time, with additional equipment, additional channels may be added. However, Campus Cable TV is undergoing many changes in the digital era and it is unknown when additional channels may be offered.
Can we request special programs or channels to be broadcast on the system?
Yes. Depending on what is requested, special programming can be viewed on channel 17. Email us at scntv@byuh.edu with suggestions.
Besides the Campus Bulletin Board 'blue screen' on channel 17, what else can be seen on channel 17?
Special programming, Church broadcasts, sporting events, BYU-Hawaii devotionals, etc.
When are BYU-Hawaii devotionals played on channel 17?
The most current devotional is usually played on the day of the devotional beginning at 4:00 p.m. and continuing until the following day.
