Welcome to the Indonesian club website, this website is dedicated to connect the members and visitors to the club and especially to our beloved Indonesia.

Just some Quick facts about Indonesia

    Indonesia: Melting Pot Culture
  • Indonesia gained independence on August 17, 1945.
  • The first president was Soekarno, the same man who read the Declaration of Independence.
  • We are located in south-east Asia, an archipelago between two ocean, Indian Ocean and Pacific Ocean, and two continents, Asia and Australia.
  • Indonesia consists of five large islands and well over 17 thousand small ones.
  • The five large islands are (from west to east) : Sumatra, Java, Kalimantan, Sulawesi and Irian (or Papua)
  • Indonesia consists of 33 provinces, two of which are special territories, and one capital city territory.
  • Total population is 241,973,879 (July 2005 est.), making it the fourth most populated nation in te world.
  • 80% of the population is declared as Muslim, 8% of the population is Christians, 3% Hindu and 1% Buddhist .
  • The national language is Bahasa Indonesia or simply reffered to as Bahasa (which means Language) .
  • Although our language is very similar to the Malay or Bahasa Melayu that is used in Malaysia, all the Malaysian on campus agrees that Indonesian speaks much faster.
    Upon reflection, it is probably because of all the hot and spicy food we eat that loosen our tongue!
