Welcome to the Chess Club! We're in our second semester of existence here at BYU-Hawaii and we're looking forward to many more in the future. We've had a very positive response from students as well as community members and have seen solid growth from our first semester to our second. We had 42 members sign up for the club this semester!

Chess is such a universal sport (yes, I said sport) with an appeal to so many diverse cultures; it fits right in to the club scene at diverse BYUH. These cultural icons that transcend borders are important for closing cultural gaps between Asians and Americans, Africans and Europeans, Hawaiians and Antarcticans (OK, we don't have anyone from Antarctica here. . . yet).

We have the potential to serve this campus and her student populace in so many ways-mentally building patterns, closing cultural gaps, building relationships and having fun. We've seen a lot of the promise of a chess club be fulfilled this semester at BYUH. And we're just getting started.
