Scholarship Applications
Description of Awards
The School of Education will award available scholarship funds to deserving and eligible applicants. General University guidelines permit the School of Education to award a minimum of $500 per semester and $250 per term, per individual. Priority will be given to students in the following categories:

Seniors completing student teaching during the award academic year.

High school seniors with significant records of accomplishment, service, and clear intentions to pursue teaching as a career.

Declared Education students who are making appropriate progress towards graduating in four years and/or 120 semester hours.
Minimum Requirements:
- Must be a declared Education Major
- Must be a full-time student (12 credits).

Must have a minimum GPA of 2.7.

Must have and continue to demonstrate professionalism, service, leadership and community service.
- Must demonstrate satisfactory progress in the Education Major.
- Must submit complete application by the deadline.

Application Process

There are two scholarship applications for the School of Education. Please read carefully to make sure you complete the appropriate scholarship application. It's the applicant's responsibility to ensure all scholarship application materials are received and completed by the deadline.
First Time Applicant: Complete this application if you have never applied for a scholarship from the School of Education before. This application includes the online First Time Application form, as well as official copies of transcripts and 2 letters of recommendation. See below for complete First Time Applicant Packet instructions. All applications must be received and completed by the deadline for award consideration.
Renewal Application: Complete this application if you have applied for a scholarship from the School of Education in the past, regardless of whether or not you have been awarded a scholarship. Complete only the online Renewal Application form ( 4 short essay questions). You do NOT need to submit any transcripts or letters of recommendations.
First Time Applicant Instructions ( complete all of the following):
1. Complete the First Time Applicant application online. This application includes the following sections:

| Personal Statement: The applicant must write a personal statement with no more than 500 words. This statement must include a description of the applicant's personal/family background, career aspirations, involvement in extracurricular activities and community service, and leadership positions held. The applicant may also state his/her financial need. |
2. Official Transcript: Each First Time Applicant must submit official transcripts:
| High School Seniors must submit grades 9-12 |
| Transfer Students must submit official college transcripts only (no high school) |
| Current BYUH students must submit unofficial BYUH transcripts printed from WebAdvisor |
3. Three Letters of Recommendation: Using the form provided, applicants must submit recommendations from three individuals familiar with the applicant's academic, service, and leadership accomplishments. Since these are mailed by the recommender to the Committee, the applicant should print three copies of the form above, provide a stamped, addressed envelope for the recommenders' convenience. Letters of recommendation are due the same day as the application deadline. It is the applicant's responsibility to ensure that the letters of recommendation have been received by the Scholarship Awards Committee by the deadline.

Ommissions of any of the required documents will render the application incomplete.
All applications are due Friday, Oct 2nd, 2009 at 5pm. All late and/or incomplete applications will not be considered.
