How does a person get a teacher's license?
BYU Hawaii provides a Teacher Education Program which is a requirement for licensing. Actual teacher licenses are governed by each individual state. Check our web site for each state requirements.

For Hawaii, we offer 3 programs:
1) undergraduate completion of a Teacher Education Program
2) post-graduate completion of a Teacher Education Program (often called our 5th year program, not a degree - leads to licensure only, available to Hawaii residents
3) alternate licensing program - for teachers with at least 1 year of full-time teaching experience in the area of their degrees, available to Hawaii residents only.
