D. Chad Compton

Chad Compton is an Associate Professor and Chair of International Cultural Studies at Brigham Young University Hawaii. Dr. Compton teaches and researches in the area of intercultural and international communication, cross-cultural conflict, organizational communications, and new information and communication technologies. His resent and current research projects include:
- Documenting levels of communication apprehension among various cultural groups at BYUH.
- Creating and evaluating curricular strategies to promote the development of intercultural sensitivity.
- Exploring how international students use of virtual communities for the purposes of culture and identity maintenance.
- The role and function of LDS langauge wards in the Laie and Laie North LDS stakes.
- A longitudinal study documenting the development of intercultural sensitivity over students four years of study at BYUH.

Dr. Compton received his Ph.D. in Organizational Communication from Ohio University. He received his Masters of Arts degree in Human Resource Development and Communication and his Bachelors of Arts Degree in Interpersonal Communication, both from Brigham Young University-Provo. He has previously taught at Loyola Marymount University, the University of Missouri-Columbia, and at the Brigham Young University Provo campus.
