A.E. Schwartz & Associates

A.E. Schwartz & Associates is small, Boston-based comprehensive management, training, and organizational development/consulting company. Internships focus on the continual development and growth of our organization: http://www.aeschwartz.com , school4managers.com, laserlearn.com, mentor-protege.com, fast-trac-software.com, , and our commercial websites: http://www.internships4you.com , http://www.trainingconsortium.com , and http://www.readysetpresent.com.

Philosophy Towards Students/Interns: A mentoring interaction with each intern develops a mutually beneficial relationship. Each intern is given hands-on responsibilities, and our organization continues to grow due to the skills, participation, and involvement that each intern contributes. In many instances, professional relationships with former students/interns evolve long after the formal internship's conclusion. Since our organization is a small but growing sole proprietorship, I can ensure that you will not spend the majority of your time on mind-numbing office work. Interns are given significant projects which match their unique abilities and potential equity in projects and profits. Our organization is growing and our internship program has always provided hands-on/project-driven opportunities to learn and make real-world contributions.

Project SHINE (Students Helping in the Naturalization of Elders)
Project SHINE is a national service-learning initiative that promotes lifelong civic engagement by mobilizing college students to help elderly immigrants and refugees learn the English and civics they need to become more actively engaged in their communities and prepare for US citizenship. Currently 17 community colleges and universities are partnering in this innovative initiative that fosters civic attitudes and skills across generations. Project SHINE tutors bring essential services directly to immigrant communities, providing one-on-one or small-group lessons for elder learners in community centers and senior housing. Both elder learners and college students benefit from this connection. College students gain a greater understanding of their own and other cultures, a deeper appreciation of civics and the meaning of citizenship, "real-life" applications of their academic work, and newfound respect for older adults. Limited English-speaking elders welcome the interest and individual attention, and they value the personal relationships they develop with American-born students and young people from their own ethnic communities.
